Caged in Metal – Show Number 5

•June 4, 2010 • Leave a Comment

This week we chat to Sydney based progressive metal act Paradigm, and metalcore legends Unearth from Massachusetss. Usual run of awesome metal tracks for ye all, as well as a look at women in metal. Is the idea of a woman in a metal band or a female presence at a metal gig an anomaly? We spoke to Daysend bass player Meredith Webster to find out. And finally, we preview Anno Domini’s upcoming debut album Atrocities. The album is not yet available to buy, but you can hear some short samples, as well as a review, on this weeks show. \m/

As usual you can stream the show here (Stream not working? Hit refresh or F5 and try again. It almost always works the second time around):

It’s all like power metal and shit. This week we talk to Vo and Dom, brothers in metal and members of Darker Half come first in the interview lineup, followed by a chat with Lord Tim of LORD. The metal scene story takes a look at social networking, and uncovers the problems that can arise from an otherwise beneficial system that has given a strong boost to the local scene. There’s the usual run of some bad arse local metal, including a live recording of LORD, and other new additions. \m/

As usual you can stream the show here (Stream not working? Hit refresh or F5 and try again. It almost always works the second time around):

You can here the complete interview with Lord Tim here as mentioned on the show:

Things get a little bit thrashy and smashy this week, as we head down to Wollongong yet again to talk to Rampage and Red, the drummer for Segression. There is so much awesome local metal coming out of that tiny city, it’s almost criminal that there isn’t more support. The more journalistic type story this week looks at the well known controversies in the metal scene, and whether these actually apply in Australia. Do people really look at you, the average metal head, and run to their nearest church and call the fire brigade? There’s the usual run of some bad arse local metal, and a new gig watch segment, with some jazzy sound effects.

As usual you can stream the show here (Stream not working? Hit refresh or F5 and try again. It almost always works the second time around):

You can here the complete interview with Red here as mentioned on the show:

For those who missed it on the Facebook group:
Caged in Metal will maintan the one episode every three weeks change. Unfortunately, now that uni is getting underway, I just don’t have the time to produce a show every fortnight. Thanks \m/

Now I know that when shit like this happens, companies always say that they thank the customers/listeners/audience for their understanding and continued support. But so few of them mean it. But in all seriousness, thank’s for showing so much support for the show in its early days. Two shows in, we have well over 200 fans on Facebook and people are leaving comments/suggestions. This is fucking awesome and makes me feel all good inside.

Metal cheers!

Caged in Metal show No.1 sneak preview and news

•March 15, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Because this is a not for profit show, I have to rely on free services to provide you guys with the programme. I currently use zShare to upload all of my stuff, and they have a no hotlinking policy. This is why some of you may have been presented with the ‘file not found’ issue. But because I still want to share the programme, at this stage you’ll have to head over to the zShare site to listen to it. No big deal, just follow the link at the bottom of the post.

So Because I’m very excited about this project, I’m giving all of you a super secret sneak preview of the first show. If all goes well the full programme will be online by Friday night!
